My Motorcycle Journey
I got my first motorcycle in 1969 at 12 tears of age. It was a Honda CT70 which I modified with real handlebars, a modified exhaust, and better tires. I started racing on the mini bike track at Saddleback Park and rode the wheels off that bike until it was stolen out of the garage one morning. Actually, kind of lucky because the Yamaha mini enduro had come out and it was a much better bike. My next bike was a Hodaka Super Rat a great bike and then a Suzuki TM125. By this time, I was in High School and racing every weekend. It was such a great time for the sport we had so many places to race, Saddleback Park, Carlsbad, Escape Country, DeAnza, Corona Raceway, OCIR, Lions Dragstrip, Ascot Park and more. We even had a High School Motocross team and would race other high school teams, try pulling that off today. l was actually lucky enough to race in a high school race at the LA Coliseum by this time I was racing my first European bike a 1974 CR250 Husqvarna. I rode 250's for a while owning a 1976 Ossa Phantom, then a 1979 Honda Elsinore.

In 1981 I bought my first open class bike a 490 Maico, what a machine I became a Maico die hard. I also decided to try my hand at hill climbing, turns out this was one of my favorite things I ever did on a motorcycle. I was hooked and I built extended Maico's, a 1000 cc nitro burning Triumph in a Maico frame, and a few others. Again, it was the best time for the sport we had the Matterhorn and hill climb valley at Saddleback, the World Championship Hill and Drag Hill at De Anza, the Widowmaker in Utah, as well as multiple hill climbs in Medford OR, Roseburg, OR, and Billings, MT.

Somewhere around 1985 I started racing Off Road Trucks racing for Mazda Motors of America, I was again fortunate enough to get in the sport when the Manufacturers were involved, and sponsorships were plentiful. I raced Off Road trucks for Mazda, Jeep, and Ford and also two years of Pro Rally for Mitsubishi. I won championships in both Off Road and Pro Rally, but I never stopped riding or lost my passion for motorcycles, I even Pre-Ran many of the Off Road races on a motorcycle.

Near the end of 2009 we started Get Dirty Dirt Bikes and became a Beta Motorcycle dealer, and by 2012 we were the 4th largest Beta dealer in the U.S. We sold Beta until 2015 and in 2016 became a TM Racing Dealer and soon we were the number one TM dealer in the U.S. All during this time I continued to race in the AMA National Hare and Hound Series as well as OTMX and SRA Gran Prix's, but I also started collecting some of the bikes from my past and then raced a Hodaka Super Combat in the 50th anniversary Elsinore Gran Prix. Again I was hooked and now have a stable full of Vintage bikes that I can't wait to race.
